Diagnose Right. Fix It Once. Document Everything.

Knights of Repair is hiring a full-time Heavy Equipment Technician to support our field and workshop repair operations.

We repair and maintain heavy equipment and machinery for clients who depend on uptime. This role is for a technician who takes pride in accurate diagnostics, quality workmanship, clean documentation, and professional conduct on every job.

Our promise is simple: Protect Your Uptime.

That promise depends on technicians who do the job properly, safely, and consistently.

About the Role

As a Technician at Knights of Repair, you will diagnose faults, perform repairs, complete scheduled maintenance, inspect equipment, and document every job clearly.

You may work in the field, in the workshop, or across both environments depending on job requirements. You will report to the Operations Supervisor and work closely with our parts and administration team to complete jobs efficiently and correctly.

This is a hands-on technical role. It is not a sales role, management role, or quoting role.

Knights Code of Honour

In order to join the Knights, you must agree to our 14-point Team Code of Honour.

What You’ll Do

You will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing faults accurately using approved tools, procedures, and technical references
  • Identifying root causes, not just symptoms
  • Performing repairs, maintenance, inspections, and breakdown work on heavy equipment
  • Completing preventive maintenance tasks, including fluid changes, filters, lubrication, inspections, hose checks, belt checks, and calibrations
  • Testing repaired equipment before marking work complete
  • Completing job sheets accurately and on time
  • Recording parts used, labour hours, fault details, work performed, and job outcomes
  • Taking required pre-work and post-work photos
  • Reporting additional defects or maintenance concerns found during a job
  • Following all safety procedures, PPE requirements, site rules, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Keeping company vehicles, tools, and diagnostic equipment clean, organised, and serviceable
  • Representing Knights of Repair professionally at client sites

What This Role Does Not Do

To keep work clear and accountable, this role does not include:

  • Quoting or pricing work
  • Changing job scope without supervisor approval
  • Purchasing parts independently
  • Making commercial commitments to clients
  • Managing other team members
  • Working outside your certification or competency scope
  • Closing jobs without required quality review

You will focus on technical execution. The Operations Supervisor handles scope, scheduling, escalation, and commercial decisions.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a technician with strong mechanical ability, disciplined work habits, and a professional attitude.

The right person for this role is:

  • Systematic in diagnostics
  • Careful with safety
  • Skilled in heavy equipment repair and maintenance
  • Reliable with job documentation
  • Accountable for quality
  • Professional with clients and team members
  • Comfortable following documented procedures
  • Honest about mistakes, limits, and escalation needs
  • Able to work without cutting corners under pressure

Technical skill matters. So does discipline. At Knights of Repair, the job is not complete until the equipment is repaired, tested, documented, and handed over properly.

Typical Qualifications

Preferred qualifications may include:

  • Trade qualification in heavy diesel, agricultural equipment, earthmoving equipment, or equivalent experience
  • Current driver’s licence appropriate to assigned vehicle
  • Experience with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic repair work
  • Familiarity with scan tools, multimeters, hydraulic test equipment, gauges, and OEM diagnostic systems
  • Relevant equipment operation licences, such as forklift or elevated work platform, where applicable
  • WHS/OHS, construction site safety, or equivalent safety certifications
  • OEM-specific certifications, where relevant

Final qualification requirements will be confirmed during hiring and onboarding.

Performance Standards

Technicians at Knights of Repair are measured on more than speed.

We care about:

  • First-time fix rate
  • Job sheet accuracy and completion
  • Safety compliance
  • Parts recording accuracy
  • Labour time discipline
  • Pre-work and post-work photo compliance
  • Vehicle and tool care
  • Professional conduct at client sites
  • Quality of diagnostics and repair execution

The goal is not to rush jobs. The goal is to repair equipment correctly, reduce downtime, and protect the client’s operation.
